Leave Room for Your Dreams

As I walked to the kitchen this morning, sunlight poured through the windows, highlighting the vibrant bougainvillea plant in my backyard—my favorite Arizona bloom. In that moment, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for my life. I love my life. I love my husband, my family, my friends, and my work—well really, works, plural.

This past year, I made the bold decision to step away from a long-standing career to embrace the responsibilities of entrepreneurship and partnerships. And let me tell you, while the journey has its challenges, it feels amazing to be standing in a life that isn’t far removed from dreams I dreamt decades ago.

You see, I used to say I wanted to be a philanthropist. My dream was to have a ton of money so I could give a ton of money away. And while I haven’t yet reached that “ton of money” mark (key word: yet—because your girl is working, you hear?), I find myself living out the essence of that dream already. I regularly get to do intentional philanthropic work through two organizations dear to my heart:

Best Buddies International: Through my role as a board member and volunteer, I get to champion inclusion and empowerment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

D Squared for the Homeless: This local (and soon-to-be national) nonprofit provides vital support for those who are housing insecure. Learn more about their mission here.

Standing here today, I’m struck by how God has woven my steps together, even when I didn’t always take the boldest or most “right” ones. He aligned the pieces. And now, I’m living in prayers—both my own and those of the people who love and cover me.

As we step into 2025, here’s what I want to share with you: Leave room for your dreams to come true.

Make intentional space in your mind, your heart, and your possibilities for those dreams to take root. Here’s why: There’s a good chance your deepest desires weren’t even planted by you.

There’s a scripture that says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). For those of us walking with Jesus, we’ve undergone a heart transplant of sorts. His heart becomes ours. That means those desires burning inside of you? They might just be part of His plan.

One day, you’ll wake up and realize you’re living in those dreams. Because He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).

And don’t forget who you are. Who you are today is not who you were before. Trust that you have enough—whether it’s a lot or a little—to give to the world today. Trust God’s timing, and trust yourself to show up.

I can’t wait to celebrate you when your dreams become reality. Let’s leave room for the miraculous in 2025.

With gratitude,

Rhuneisha

This is so inspiring and such a great reminder to stay the course that God has placed in your heart. I know sometimes when the desires of my heart don’t happened the way I might envision it, I can get discouraged. I realize later that God was working it out in my favor and I just had to stand the course. Thank you for these beautiful words.

It’s already happening. Let the Lord use you! Taking the leap of faith to leave what you know to embark on that burning passion (purpose) will lead to greatness. Hebrew 11
